These wines have been selected that we know are great for the festive season. Fantastic fizz’s luscious whites and scrumptious reds. A few of the wines are top sellers in our Somerset Wine Fair this year so felt they deserved to be in the Top 20’s too!

Fizz and Champagne

Modella Prosecco, Italy £9.99 (New for 2016 & Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller)

Grapes are picked early morning to ensure a fresh crisp delicate Prosecco. Delicious apples, citrus fruit with beautiful soft bubbles.

Vilarnau Brut Rosado, Cava Spain £11.99 (Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller)

Made with pinot noir and aged for 18 months. Vibrant ripe red fruit, strawberries and raspberries with lovely freshness.

Blanquette de Limoux ‘Le Moulin’ France £13.99 (Matthews Top Fizzy Tipple)

Superb wine from the Languedoc region, made in the traditional method. Fine delicate bubbles with rich apples, honey and really bright crisp acidity. Exceptionally good.

Jules Feraud, Champagne £24.99 (New for 2016)

An extremely appealing nose of caramel and buttered toast, grilled nuts and pistachio shells. This is a flavour some champagne with fresh acidity and a long length. Available in magnums and half bottles.

Foissy Joly Millesime, 2012 Champagne £39.99

Stunning Vintage Champagne from an organically grown independent Champagne house. Lovely mineral touch, citrus fruit, white flower and a rich mouth feel. Elegant and perfect for your special Christmas.

Bright aromatics of lime juice and white flowers with zesty acidity. Characterful and refreshing this is a lovely wine to share with friends and accompany fish dishes.

Pasqua Passimento Blanc, Italy £10.99 (New for 2016)

The white grape gargaenga are left to dry to concentrate sugars and aromas. Intense citrus fruit, peaches and a touch of almonds. Looking for a white wine with no oak for Turkey then this is the one!

Babylonstoren Viognier £11.99 (Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller)

Beautifully crafted wine with gentle oak that gives a rich body lovely stone fruit and touch of floral notes. Wonderful with friends and matches pork dishes.

Irene Morales Grand Reserva Chardonnay, Chile £12.99 (New for 2016 and Kelli’s top tipple)

An elegant oaked wine from Chile with a rich buttery mouth feel, tones of vanilla, warm tropical fruits with a touch of spice and balancing acidity. Enjoy with meaty fish, chicken and pork.

Chablis L’Onciale, France £14.99 (New for 2016)

Distinctly nutty with grilled nuts, toasted chestnuts and citrus fresh lemon acidity. This is focused and still youthful but with complexing development. Enjoy with goats cheese, seabass or salads.

A beautiful elegant wine from Sardinia from the vermentino grape. Rich with citrus fruit, lemons, floral notes with a long finish. Perfect with seafood.

Manzanos Rioja, Spain £7.99 (New for 2016 & Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller)

Aged in American and French oak to impart those lovely toasty vanilla and spice notes. Intense cherry fruit ripe red and black fruits with a touch of chocolate.

Dulong Classic Claret, France £8.99 (New for 2016)

Blend of merlot & cabernet sauvignon with a splash of cabernet franc. Medium bodied wine with lovely black fruits and a smooth finish. Great with grilled meats and cheese.

Pasqua Passimento Rosso, Italy £10.99 (New for 2016)

Vibrant with spice, vanilla and rich black cherries and an elegant wine with long length. Really versatile wine, great with Turkey through to your cheese board.

Irene Morales Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon, Chile £12.99 (New for 2016)

A blend of two grapes, the lesser well known grape Carmenere with the popular Cabernet Sauvignon Elegant with notes of blueberry, black pepper and some blackcurrant leaf. A serious wine that would work well with steak and other red meat based dishes.

Aventura Vinho Tinto, Portugal £14.99 (New for 2016)

Following an adventure took Susana to Alentejano, southern Portugal. Hand harvest, no oak to keep the vibrant fruity tones. Elegant with a lovely floral hint, vibrant and fresh.

Amares Cabernet Sauvignon, South Africa £15.99 (Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller & 2014)

Amares meaning love in latin, and you may just fall in love with this wine. A total of eight barrels made, handcrafted wines giving juicy blackberries with a hint of mint and vanilla.

Iona Pinot Noir, South Africa £19.99 (New for 2016 & Somerset Wine Fair Top Seller)

Iona is the seen as the coolest vineyard in the Cape above Elgin. Berry selection and aged in French oak for 12-14months. Juicy black cherry, floral notes with hints of forest floor and spicy notes. Elegance in a glass! Worth every penny, great with Turkey& Goose.

Ch.Val D`Or St.Emilion, France £19.99 (New for 2016)

Full of chocolate, plum and a sprinkling of spice and pepper. The acidity is still fresh and there is a dusting of tannin on the finish. Marry well with roasted red meats, game.
