Piedmont Heaven Part 2

Here are those gorgeous wines made from the fine Nebbiolo Grape.

Nebbiolo Martinenga Marchesi di Gresy 2009. Great brick red colour, scrumptious earthy nose with violets. Good acidity and perfume.

Barolo Bussia DOCG “Dardi le Rose” Colla 2004. Here we get meaty characteristics as well as those delicious earthy tones. High acidity and grippy tanning.

Barbaresco Martinenga DOCG 2006. You can feel the quality in the structure, the nose is everything you want it to be.. it’s only going to get better.

Barbaresco Martinenga Gaiun DOCG 2001. Much browner in colour with a tar, meaty nose and slight medicinal edge. Great feeling in the mouth – I couldn’t bring myself to use a spittoon!

Barbaresco Martinenga Camp Gros DOCG 1999. This I felt had a slight oxidised edge to it with coffee notes! More interesting than the Gaiun, maybe more rustic whereas the Gaiun was more elegant and together.

To finish off we had 2 lovely sparkling that was refreshing and ideal aperitifs and something fun and easy to drink.

II Cascinone Brachetto Aqui Cavallino DOCG 2009

II Cascinone Mocscato d’Asti Belvedere DOCG 2009
